摘要:
老中子星的自转减慢导致它们收缩,从而在核心区域引起粒子的化学不平衡。这种不平衡通过放出能量到星体内部的β衰变来调整,保持其温暖。这一过程可以通过Hubble空间望远镜观测到的远紫外光发射来探测,这可能是由此过程引起的,对于探索极度密集物质状态以及牛顿引力常数的时间变化具有潜在价值。
